Kathryn, I think the best of these drawings are ones where there is interaction. You have a tendency to make a careful contour drawing in a lot of your sketches. What if these hands were in motion? What if they were making gestures or actions that were much more dynamic? Try to loosen up and treat these as you would a gesture of an entire subject. Also, try to vary the line weight to describe overlap and the underside of a form. Give it a try. I know you can describe form really well in a straight contour drawing.
